How Riot Glass® Security Glass Installation Works

Written By: Brad CampbellApril 21, 2023

As a manufacturer of our own security glazing and a direct supplier to businesses all over the country, Riot Glass, LLC offers end-to-end service.

We provide a full line of patented fenestration security solutions for all types of commercial buildings across a variety of sectors. Our cost-effective solutions can be retrofitted as a security upgrade or used for new construction.

Whether you need storefront glass protection, storm damage mitigation barriers, human impact windows, or anything in between, we’ve got you covered.

What Is Riot Glass?

Our proprietary security glazing uses specific formulations of plastics, including polycarbonates and acrylics as well as security glass laminates to achieve unmatched levels of strength and durability.

Riot Glass security glazing solutions include:

  • Riot Glass RG Series Security Window Film
  • Riot Glass RG Series Laminated Security Glass
  • Riot Glass RG Series Glass-Clad Polycarbonate (GCP) Security Glazing
  • ArmorPlast® Polycarbonate Security Glazing
  • ArmorPlast Gen I and Gen II Security Framing

Many of our security glazing panels are designed to be retrofitted, meaning they can be placed into your existing framing systems on top of (over-glazed) or behind (back-glazed) the existing glass.

Some of our solutions can also be used to replace the existing glass or used in new construction instead of standard annealed window glass or tempered safety glass.

Riot Glass security glazing is available in a variety of different grades, including containment-grade (non-ballistic) polycarbonate glazing, ballistic-grade (bullet-resistant) glass-clad polycarbonate glazing, and more.

All of our solutions are intended, in one way or another, to help protect people and property against the many day-to-day security threats out there, including:

  • Forced entry
  • Burglary
  • Smash-and-grab theft
  • Rioting and looting
  • Vandalism
  • Storm damage
  • Blast damage
  • Active threats
  • All other impacts/related glass hazards

Who is Riot Glass security glazing installation best for?

Riot Glass security glazing is adaptable for almost any type of business or commercial facility. We offer security glazing solutions for all needs and budgets.

Some common types of properties we protect with Riot Glass are:

  • Schools
  • Government buildings
  • High-end and specialty retail stores
  • 24-hour convenience stores
  • Cannabis dispensaries
  • Hospitals
  • Justice-related facilities
  • Religious buildings

Any property where security and human safety are a concern is a candidate for a Riot Glass retrofit.

Riot Glass is especially ideal for when you want to fortify your property without making it look fortified.

Since our security glazing panels are crystal clear, they don’t block out natural light or reduce visibility.

This makes Riot Glass an excellent choice for things like schools, offices, and religious facilities, for example, where you want higher security without making people inside feel like they’re inside a fortress.

Riot Glass is also perfect for luxury retailers because it can be used for storefront windows and display cases, allowing window shopping while protecting against burglary and smash-and-grab theft.

Lastly, Riot Glass is an attractive alternative to traditional forced entry prevention solutions, like unsightly bars and grates, and plywood board-ups for storm damage or rioting and looting protection, because it provides 24/7 protection and doesn’t hurt curb appeal.

Where is Riot Glass security glazing manufactured?

We manufacture all our Riot Glass security glazing products right here in the USA, using American-made materials and expert craftsmanship.

We control every step of the manufacturing process to ensure our unique fenestration security products are always made to the highest standards and will outperform and outlast all similar products on the market.

Additionally, all our security glazing undergoes rigorous testing and receives certification for the purpose it’s intended for, whether that’s a forced entry resistance rating, a UL 752 ballistic resistance rating, a Miami-Dade hurricane missile resistance rating, or all of the above.

How does Riot Glass security glass installation work?

When we undertake a security glazing installation project, we always recommend starting with a professional threat assessment.

Even if you have an idea of what type of security glazing you want and where you want it, a threat assessment can help identify vulnerabilities you may not be aware of and ensure that you choose the ideal materials to mitigate both perceived and actual threats.

After a threat assessment, we take other factors into consideration to help you choose the right security glazing for the job, including your budget and whether you want to retrofit security glass on top of your existing glass or use it instead of the glass.

When possible, we highly recommend our retrofit Riot Glass solutions, as the installation process uses retrofittable framing adapters that fit into or onto your existing framing systems. This makes installation less time-consuming, less complicated, and more cost-effective.

However, if your window frames are not compatible with a retrofit, we can remove the existing panes of glass and install Riot Glass instead. This most commonly happens because of clearance issues, when the fit is too tight to retrofit security glazing.

In some rare cases, mainly on very old buildings, the existing framing cannot support the extra weight of security glazing and retrofit security framing, and therefore the whole framing system must be replaced.

How can I get Riot Glass installed?

We work with clients and glass contractors all across the country to install security glass per their needs.

We will work closely with your local glass contractor, architect, or other construction professionals to ensure Riot Glass gets delivered safely and soundly, and installed to our professional standards — no matter where you’re located.

We also have a network of dealer-partners located throughout the US. These dealer-partners rigorous background checks and undergo ongoing training to ensure they are suited to be supplying our fenestration security products to clients.

Additionally, we work with outside security consultants who can provide threat assessments in different locations around the states.

Our team of fenestration security experts is always happy to answer any further questions you may have about security glass installation.
