Are AG Series doors bulletproof?

The term “bulletproof door” is often used to refer to different types of bullet-resistant doors, but it’s a misnomer to call anything bulletproof — any door can eventually be penetrated by enough firepower.

Riot Glass®  AG Series doors are ballistic grade, meaning they can stop one or more rounds fired by certain types of firearms using certain types of bullets.

The exact level of bullet resistance of any AG series ballistic door is defined by the type of infill (glazing) you choose to fit between the top and bottom rails of the door.

AG Series doors are available with a variety of infills, including glass-clad polycarbonate and full polycarbonate options, with different ballistic ratings and thicknesses.

AG Series Ballistic Doors Are Fully Customizable

Our All-Glass Series doors are highly customizable, so you can choose an option that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and that won’t hurt the curb appeal of your property.

We have double doors and single doors in standard sizes of 3/0 x 7/0 for single doors and 6/0 x

7/0 for double doors. We also offer custom made-to-order sizes up to 130” in height.

For the framing, you can choose from a wide variety of finishes, including brushed stainless steel, dark bronze or clear anodize, chrome, polished nickel or brass, and matte black. Custom finishes are also available.

As for the bullet-resistant glass infills, the default option is crystal clear. However, we can also combine different finishes with transparent infills, such as reflective, one-way mirrors, frosted, tinted, or low iron, to name a few. Tinted finishes are available in gray, bronze, green, and blue colors.

Finally, you can choose from a variety of ladder pull handles, or we can adjust our doors to accommodate a different type of handle of your choice.

As you can see in the first part of the video, this AG Series door is a bulletproof door in the sense that it stopped multiple rounds fired from two different types of handguns, with no penetration.

It’s important to note that this door was specifically designed and rated to withstand these types of rounds and firearms and that it could have been penetrated by a more high-powered gun, such as an assault rifle. 

This is why we always stress that our products are bullet-resistant and that nothing can be truly 100% bulletproof.

Towards the end of the video, you can see how the door stands up to a prolonged attack using a baseball bat to deny forced entry. After all that abuse, the door continued to function as normal!

This is the forced entry resistance aspect of the All-Glass Series doors. They can take a huge beating from heavy tools, such as bats, pry bars, sledgehammers, and other commonly used burglary tools, without noticeable diminishing in strength or becoming dislodged.
